چکیده
SURGICAL TREATMENT has increased the life expectancy of patients with mitral stenosis and has favorably modified the natural course of the disease.1-5 Hence, there is a tendency to operate on patients without serious disability in order to prevent or delay the complications of systemic and pulmonary emboli, pulmonary hypertension, congestive heart failure, and atrial fibrillation. However, the long-term follow-up of patients after mitral valvotomy has established that the procedure usually benefits for a limited number of years only.6 With the passage of time, an increasing number of patients develop restenosis or other complications requiring repeated operations

Immediate Results of Percutaneous Mitral Balloon Valvuloplasty in Patients with Mitral Stenosis
Introduction: Mitral stenosis is a prevalent valvular disease in developing countries. Percutaneous mitral balloon valvuloplasty (PMBV) is the gold standard treatment. The main objective of this study was to assess the initial results of PMBV in patients with mitral stenosis during 16 years (2002-2018) in Mashhad, Iran. Materials and Methods: From April 2002 to March 2018, 770 patients underwen...
متن کاملClinical evaluation versus Doppler echocardiography in the quantitative assessment of valvular heart disease.
We tested the hypotheses that Doppler echocardiography has a higher accuracy than clinical evaluation in the detection of significant aortic and mitral valvular heart disease and that Doppler echocardiography is highly accurate as compared with cardiac catheterization for the assessment of valvular disease severity. Thus, cardiac catheterization for the assessment of valve lesion severity may b...

ABSTRACT: A consecutive Series of 522 patients (mean age 40.36 years ,female 70.9% ,male 29.1% ) with rheumatic valvular heart disease were studied during a period of seven years ,with particular reference to understanding the prevalence and risk factors of atrial fibrillation (AF) and systemic arterial thromboembolism (SAT). AF was observerd in 165 (31.6%) patients .The frequency of AF were ...
